As a member of the Biathlon Manitoba Provincial Training Squad,it is my intention to represent my club and province with dignity and with a positive image both on and off the ski course. With this in mind,I understand and will conform to the following conduct code;athletic goals and other obligations to the provincial governing body as deemed necessary and as required by them. A conflict of these terms will result in discipline procedures. All concerns regarding these discipline procedures will be handled by the grievance procedure as outlined in the Bylaws.
1. CONDUCT CODE:
- a) The Athlete will conduct him/herself at all times in a manner beneficial to his/her personal performance as an athlete and competitor as well as to the Provincial Biathlon Squad.
- b) Respect and consideration towards the public,the coaches,officials and the other athletes is required at all times. Foul language or any other unacceptable behavior on or off the course will not be tolerated.
- c) Smoking,consumption of alcohol under the age of 18,abuse of alcoholic beverages and any involvement with drugs will result in automatic suspension. If it occurs while on a team trip,the athlete will be sent home at his/her own expense.
- d) Care and attention to personal appearance while traveling with the team will be assured.
- e) The Athletes shall attempt to accommodate the public and press and never make statements against the Association,Biathlon Team,Officials,Other Provinces and other sports.
- f) Members shall at all times abide by the rules of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon and Biathlon (IBU),Biathlon Canada,and Biathlon Manitoba.
2. SPONSORSHIP:
- a) The Athlete shall be free to contract with manufacturers,importers, suppliers,or retailers of skiing equipment and clothing for sponsorship (material or financial),employment,or endorsed contracts.
- b) Should the Athlete be sponsored by an equipment supplier,the Athlete understands that he/she is the beneficiary of the agreement reached between him/herself and the sponsoring agency.
- c) It is the sponsored Athlete’s responsibility to maintain communication with the sponsor throughout the season.
- d) The Association assumes no liability,financial or otherwise,for equipment procured by Athletes from sponsors.
3. ASSOCIATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- a) Financial subsidy to cover the Athlete’s expenses related to Biathlon will be made available to him/her through the Biathlon Association of Manitoba in line with existing by-laws. The Athlete agrees to conform to any and all regulations which may relate to his/her financial aid. Should the Athlete cease to be a member of the team,the Athlete understands that he/she may lose any right to further financial help for the remainder of the year.
- b) The Association accepts no liability or responsibility (other than provision of medical insurance coverage to traveling teams) for breach of custom or any other laws or by injury or accident to the team member and the Athlete hereby acknowledges same and agrees to indemnify same and save harmless the Biathlon Association of Manitoba from any claim or demand whatsoever arising therefrom. Further,the team member waives and releases any and all right and claim for damages which the Athlete may have against the Association,its members,executive,directors,coaches and officials,for any and all injuries suffered by the Athlete.
This agreement shall be in effect as long as I am a member in good standing of the Biathlon Manitoba Canada Winter Games Training Squad for the 12 month period of June 1st ,2009 to May 1st,2010
