Manitoba athletes at The Canadian National Biathlon Championships, being held in Canmore Alberta, have now completed two days of races in both the Sprint and Individual categories. And it’s been an eventful two days! In the first day of Sprints, Lucas Smith captured a Gold Medal finish in Senior Boys and Tim Wehner placed Second in his age category, fourth overall in Masters Men. As well, there was stellar marksmanship by Liam Pelletier, who shot clean in both shooting bouts! Today, Tim Wehner captured a Gold Medal finish in Masters Men, Lucas Smith placed fourth in Senior Boys and Kaley Dean secured a strong 11th place finish in Senior Girls. Ian Mitchell, Bowan LeMay, Alexisse Berard and Mark Naylor are rounding off Team Manitoba nicely giving Manitoba a solid presence. Tomorrow, Friday, they get a day off before the Pursuit and Relay races commence on Saturday. Go Team Toba!

Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the Manitoba Cup #6 Race this weekend at Birch Ski Area! A Great job in some challenging snow conditions! Also, a big thanks to the folks at Birch who hosted the race and of course, to the trail maintenance crew who groomed the course to such a fine state!
Tim Wehner from Kenora, Ontario put out some stellar results at the Eastern Canadian Championships Québec Cup # 5 between February 24 to 26, coming in second in the Masters Men 6 km Sprint! Way to go Tim!

Congratulations to all the athletes for an exhilarating weekend of solid performances! A big Thanks goes out to all the volunteers, coaches and Ski Patrol who made the weekend run smooth and safe! And once again, the Falcon Trails Grooming Personnel did a heck of a job in producing good quality course conditions for racing, especially in such challenging temperatures.
