Goals in BAM:To make myself proud
Thoughts on training:I find training is not only a physical challenge but also a piece of cake;it is full of layers, requires careful amounts of all the important ingredients, and it is rather rewarding.

Goals in BAM:Compete in Canada Winter Games 2011
Thoughts on training:Training is a vital component to any sport. I think it is also important to train with a goal in mind. “One day of practice is like one day of clean living. It doesn’t do you any good.” – Abe Lemmons.
Thoughts on competition:I love competitions. Races are a chance to put all your training to use and a time to achieve new personal bests. There are some things that you don’t have control over, like snow conditions, but those are the same for everyone in the race and it is a test of who has the most determination to not let it bother them. “The finish line is sometimes merely a symbol of victory. All sorts of person triumphs take place before that point, and the outcome of the race may actually be decided long before the end.” – Laurence Malone
Other interests:Flying,gliding,traveling.
Future Goals:Graduate from Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba. Get my night rating for my private pilot license. Win a medal at nationals. Finish in the top 5 in Canada Winter Games. Shoot clean in a race.

Name:Jeannine Beattie

Born:1987
Residence:Winnipeg,MB
Club:RRNBC
Years in BAM:1
Goals in BAM: To meet, train and socialize with fellow biathletes,as well as pass on knowledge and joy of the sport!
Thoughts on training: Training is something that seems easy enough to do when looking at a plan or program, but is much harder to follow through with. Having the determination to truly follow your training plan is the key to succeed. “Don’t wait until you feel like training. Just get up and do it.”
Thoughts on competition:Competition is something I’ve always enjoyed. I’ve had good races and bad,and I have to say that each and every one of them has tested my resolve and determination. Being able to compete and finish a race means believing in yourself and going beyond what you thought was your limit.
Other interests:I enjoy most sports, such as cycling,running,roller-skiing,open-water kayaking, swimming, riding, plus the occasional video game!
Future Goals: As a career I am currently teaching, really enjoying it,and planning to do so indefinitely. In terms of sports, all I know for sure is that I want to keep training and continue to improve in biathlon. Short term,I’d like to be nice and fit for a 17 day cycle tour of Manitoba in July 2011!
